4. Cars

This step brings in every car you currently hold — purchased, shipped, or arrived but not yet sold. Sold cars do not migrate; they belong to the previous fiscal year in your old system.

  • Inline grid — 9 essential columns (group, make, model, VIN, mileage, purchase ccy, cost in home ccy, status, notes). Best for small inventories or quick test runs. Use the searchable make/model picker — catalog values for known makes, free-text for the rest.
  • Excel template — full column set including year, purchase date, native cost, FX rate, supplier, plate, trim, color, fuel, transmission, drivetrain, seller. Best for serious migrations.

Group cars by purchase currency. A “Korea 2024” group is single-currency KRW; a multi-currency group like “Auctions 2024” accepts cars purchased in mixed currencies.

  • Single-currency group — only purchased status allowed (no in-transit / arrived). Status options collapse accordingly.
  • Multi-currency grouppurchased, shipped, arrived all allowed.

Required: make, model, VIN, cost in home currency, status. Optional: year, purchase date, supplier (matches against counterparties from Step 3), mileage. The platform treats missing year as 0 and substitutes the conversion date when purchase date is blank.

Principal:

Dr 1100 Inventory of Cars <landed cost in home>
Cr 3001 OBE <landed cost in home>

Consignment (consignor name set → maps to a Step 3 counterparty):

Dr 1300 Due from Consignors <recoverable cost in home>
Cr 3001 OBE <recoverable cost in home>

Consignment cars never post to inventory — the capital risk stays with the consignor. See Consignment vs principal.

The Excel template accepts up to three of purchaseAmountHome, purchaseAmountNative, and purchaseExchangeRate per row. Provide any two and the third is back-computed; provide all three and the platform checks consistency within 0.5%. Single-currency inline grids only need the home-ccy column.
